Specific rules for governing Night Actions:

First night (or night 0 if applicable):

No NK attempt succeeds.
Investigations and tracking are unhindered.
No Jason Bourne phone calls.

General:

1. Can Player be tracked?

Yes: Alexander Conklin, Mo Panov, Soraya Moore, Matrin Lindros, Anne Held, Karim*, Luther Lavalle
No: Jason Bourne, Fadi, Karim*, "Bud" Halliday,

*Karim can be tracked, however any action directed at him redirects to Lindros, so essentially Lindros is tracked instead.

2. Investigates as town: Everybody.

3. Can be Roleblocked? (applies to Conklin's Brainwash also)

Yes: Jason Bourne*, Alexander Conklin, Mo Panov, Fadi, Karim**, Luther Lavalle, "Bud" Halliday, Soraya Moore, Martin Lindros

*Bourne: HE can be roleblocked, but this does not block all of his abilities, only his ability to not be tracked and his ability to use a pre paid phone.

**Karim: Can be role blocked which stops his re-direct to Lindros

4. Mo Panov's doc skill: cannot self target. May target anyone.

5. Some night actions are decided by time stamp on the half hour or by the 10 minute.

A) As to NK attempts on Karim: Fail N1. 50% chance N2 based on time stamp (00-29 fail, 30-59 succeed) N3 and on: based on 10 minute time scale. I.E. 00-10 = fail, 11-20, succeed, 21-30 fail, 31-40 succeed, 41-50 fail, 51-60 succeed.

B) As to Mo Panov:

Depending on the time stamp of the PM sent by player, the doc action will be different, I.E., 50% chance of role block. xx:00 to xx:29 results in normal doc save. xx:30 to xx:59 results in a Jailkeeper effect.

6) As to Martin Lindros:
He has a 50% chance to one shot kill his attacker at night, this is due to him being tortured by both Fadi and Karim in the book. The "dice roll" is determined by even or odd Day Stamp on the PM when I receive it. Even date = Martin does not kill his attacker, odd date = Martin kills his attacker.

Role assignment via random role generator:

1. Zarniwoop: Jason Bourne (Town)
2. Zemaj: Alexander Conklin (Town)
3. Noodle: Mo Panov (Town)
4. Leo: Fadi (Mafia Team 1)
5. D2DC: Karim (Mafia Team 1)
6. Prestige7: Luther Lavalle (Mafia Team 2)
7. Caluin Graye: Bud Halliday (Mafia Team 2)
8. Mr_Thingyman: Soraya Moore (Town)
9. Drixx: Martin Lindros (Town)
10. Kestegs: Anne Held (Town)

Do the Mafia have daytalk? Yes.

Mafia fake claims by team:

Team 1:

Fadi = Marie St. Jacques
Karim = Matthew Lerner

Team 2:

Luther Lavalle = Richard P. Kendall
Bud Halliday = Professor Specter

Rule:

If two block type actions target each other?
-The earliest via forum timestamp succeeds.

The below quoted rulset was drafted but not put into effect:

Rule addition to first post, I forgot to clarify for myself that both mafia teams are allowed to submit NK targets each night, however, both mafia teams are not allowed to actually succeed in killing each night, or the game would be over too fast.

So, via use of Random.Org, Mafia team one wins the coin toss.

No NK's are allowed NZero (the current night as of typing this)

N1 - Team one's kill is allowed to be valid but subject to affect by other night actions. Team 2's NK attempt is role blocked.

N2 - Team two's kill is valid but subject to being affected by night actions.

N3 - Team 1

N4 - Team 2

N5 - Team 1

N6 - Team 2

N7 - Team 1

N8 - Team 2

N9 - Team 1

N10 - Team 2

Game role definitions and mechanics:

Jason Bourne

Alignment: Pro Town
Win Condition: Town Win.

Jason is a complicated variation on The Jack of All Trades Role.

Abilities:

1. 2x Pre Paid Cell Phone. Usage: Can secretly call (pass a massage through mod) to a random town member. Message can be responded to.

3. Untrackable at night.

4. In the event of an NK attempt on Jason after one shot has expired, there is a 50% chance that Jason will kill his attacker during an NK attempt. This is decided by the time stamp on the PM to me from whoever sends in the NK on Jason.

@Noodle totally understand you were sick and all but saying you would catch up day 2 and did not want to replace out then totally vanishing is not good form.

That's the most fun/anguish I've had in a mafia game in a very long time.

Extremely enjoyable SS.

Predicted the 6v2v2 setup on N0! And, I will pat myself on the back for decent scum hunting, of team 2 that is..

Played "town" during the day, and couldnt get a lynch until d5 (on me)..

Played Mafia during night and couldnt muster an NK for four nights..

I think I am ready for a basic setup game after the last two games..

Thanks for hosting Silver!

@Mr_Thingyman @Drixx

I know you guys got frustrated, sorry that (Drixx) ended up in one of my custom games after not being here for a long period, and (thingy) sorry that one of my non normal games was one of your first games on site.

Unless I declare a normal standard game or the players want a standard game, most of mine are themed and the game fits the theme and its less standard. I try to balance things out as best I can but can't always do that depending on the theme.

Some of the stuff I would want to do would require more...victims.

I has also vaguely hinted to each mafia team that it was a team game but did not get more specific, on purpose. The town did not know.

Also, I want to apologize for the sour grapes on the Kestegs failed lynch. I shouldn't have whined about it since I'm the one that didn't read the rules through.

@Prestige7

You really need to start participating in post game, dead threads, etc. It's part of how you get better at playing. I've noticed you don't follow the rest of the game, nor do you comment on anything after you're dead if you die.

Hurray, thought dump time! I have about 20 minutes before I have to leave so I'll post what I can and catch up later.

First - I claimed vig but offered no breadcrumb to trace back to.

Of course I am scum.

I'm honestly surprised it took so long to lynch me as it did. It was helpful that other people in the thread were also on a different scum team that I could hunt and make myself look like town in doing so. I am extremely proud of myself for using my team mate's death (Prestige) and using it to draw links to the 2.5 mafia members of the opposing team.

Thingy did a great job of attacking me on the last day, and Zarni made the correct call at the end. Well done both of you.

The +1 Vote:
zemaj talked about this in thread and I promised to come back to it afterwards.

We've had the "half rounded up +1" rule for a very long time, and it's always driven me nuts. But, it's not the +1 part that is the problem. Without it, you get situations of "Eight alive, four votes to lynch". But if four people vote one way and four other vote another, who's the lynchee?

No, it's the "rounded up" that ruins the voting structure. That makes even days work fine (Eight alive means five to lynch, which is perfect), but odd days are screwed up in the process (seven alive means still five to lynch).

I tried changing that subtly in games that I was running (changed to "rounded down") to combat this, but it still creeps in from time to time. We as a whole need to be more consistent about what rules we run our games. "Half alive rounded down +1" is pretty standard. If you want +1 from that for a lock, that's great. But please, let's stop using the 'rounded up' part of that obsolete rule.

More on this later.

@Caluin Graye

I thought about that. I think I started using the +1 from back in the day when people like Thundercat were also using it. I never liked it either which was why I created the voting rule regarding majority, which was edited into a cut and paste from an old rule set, I did not realize the second part of paragraph complicated the problem. It also screws things in a situation where you have three alive (this very game for example) the half plus 1 rounded up means that out of three people alive, you need all three to vote the same for a lynch to succeed. Which isn't going to be fair to all sides.

I'm going to write up a completely new template for myself and use rounded down instead.

@DiabloTwoinDC - I should have made it even more fun and require you and your partner to decide who sends in what individually lol

N3 -

Im like "I am town" then immediately PM Silver "Drixx gotta die.." Glad Leo got the NK though..

Gotta say, I was both super happy and super pissed that you killed Drixx. We shot him twice and failed both times, and even lost one of our team in doing so.

Though that makes me wonder - why did Drixx survive the second attempt from Prestige? His one-shot NK immune was broken by that point. Why didn't both of them die?

Gotta say, I was both super happy and super pissed that you killed Drixx. We shot him twice and failed both times, and even lost one of our team in doing so.

Though that makes me wonder - why did Drixx survive the second attempt from Prestige? His one-shot NK immune was broken by that point. Why didn't both of them die?

Drixx was Martin Lindros, who had a chance to kill his attacker. This is how Prestige died. I hadn't thought to decide if Drixx survived that particular attempt (where he ends up killing his attacker) or if he doesn't survive. So I did not rule him dead in that case specifically because I had not thought to write a role on if he would still die at the same time.

So, I've played in a lot of weird games, in a lot of frustrating games, and a lot of 'edge of your seat' games. I've played in games where I've been killed off on N0 (so not really played, I guess), and a lot of games where I've survived until the end.

Before now, I don't think I've ever played in a game where the moderator flat out lied to me.

First, the role. I was given the role of 'Godfather'. I was not given specifics of what that role was, but as Godfather is an extremely common role I did not think about it too much. Godfather means, to me and I hope everyone else, "investigates as town when targeted by the cop."

But that's not what my role did, was it? I was actually "track immune", which is an entirely different role. Zemaj even stated that mid-way through the game - 'Ninja'.

This completely changed the way I would have played the role. I have Prestige performing the night kills because if he was tracked, it'd show him running around to multiple people and would give confusing results. I wanted to have an alibi if I was tracked, showing that I was not performing any illicit actions at night. Had I known I was track-immune at the start, it would have been me performing the kills, and summarily, killed off by Drixx's counter-strike.

I even asked Shroud about this when I started to suspect there were no cops in the game. I asked specifically if I was track immune due to the Godfather role. The response was "No comment."

Second lie was the final night phase. There were five alive during the night, and D2inDC had just been lynched. I knew there was a second mafia member out there, and was about 75% sure it was Leo. So I was left with a choice - do I shoot a confirmed town and try to thin the herd? Or do I shoot for opposing mafia and hope they don't shoot me back? Or do I shoot nobody, hope mafia kills someone not me, and get town to lynch Leo?

I cannot shoot Zarniwoop because of the track risk (Because remember, I don't know that I'm track immune!).
I cannot shoot zemaj as he's my biggest supporter among the town.

I can shoot Leo, but she's my easiest Lynch target.
I can shoot Thingy, but he's my backup lynch target what with the Vanilla claim.

On top of that, Mafia team 1 will shoot someone and I don't know for certain who. I suspect it will be me, but I have to play as if I'll survive the night.

So, in my shoes, what would you do? I elected to ask the moderator if the voting rules are correct. As detailed in post #194, three people alive means nobody is lynchable. It's not a great solution, but it does seem like a path to victory - if two people die in the night and I'm left alive, then I should be able to pull a victory.

Let me repeat that - I asked the moderator if the above was correct, even detailing my throught process about my path to victory. My response was "That is unfortunately correct."

So that's what I went with I shot Leo, expecting her to flip mafia, leaving me unlynchable with two people who probably have no kill mechanism.

Then the day phase starts and the rules were changed. Words cannot express how pissed off I was. I thought about just self-voting and ending the farce, but no - that would have been unprofessional and disrespectful to Thingy and Zarni, so I did not. But, as Thingy points out, my heart was not really in it and my responses were terse.

Had I known the vote rules would have changed my final night action would have been significantly different. I would have elected to not shoot anyone, left the town at four members, claimed out as a one-shot vig and attempted to swing the town to a Leo lynch.

That is unacceptable in my book. I knew going in that this game would be frustrating, but I did not expect this level of bastard moderation.

So I ask - am I over reacting? If so, then I'll offer an apology to Shroud.
